Beautiful ceremonies. Meaningful moments. Your story.

Felicity Best is a registered marriage celebrant in Murwillumbah, NSW, holding weddings, elopements, namings, renewals and funerals across the Tweed, Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, the Northern Rivers and the southern Gold Coast. A full wedding ceremony is $950 midweek and $1,200 Friday to Sunday, and every ceremony on the site carries its price, no GST.

Warm, personal and beautifully crafted ceremonies for life's biggest moments.

Weddings, elopements, naming ceremonies, vow renewals and farewells.

I believe every ceremony should reflect who you are, tell your story and create memories you'll treasure for years to come.

How it works

Four steps, from start to “I do”.

Unlimited consultations are included, so the first conversation is just a conversation.

    Check the date

Send the date, or just the season, and where. I will tell you whether it is free and exactly what it costs, because every price is already on this site.

  2. 2

    Meet, and lodge the notice

A first conversation, in person or on a call. You sign the Notice of Intended Marriage then or soon after, witnessed by me in person or by video link where the requirements for witnessing it that way are met. It has to reach me at least one calendar month before the day, and about four months is the sensible notice for a weekend date in season.

  3. 3

    The words

I write the script from that conversation and send it to you in draft, to change as much as you like, with help on your vows and on any ritual you want in it, a ring warming or a handfasting, and a rehearsal so nobody hears it for the first time on the day.

  4. 4

    The day

I'll arrive well before your guests and have a word beforehand with your photographer, your venue and anyone else working to the same run sheet. You'll leave with your commemorative certificate, signed on the day.

I'll lodge your marriage paperwork with the relevant registry within fourteen days of your wedding. If you would like an official marriage certificate, you can order and pay for one directly from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in the state or territory where you were married. It is an additional cost and is not included in my ceremony fee.

What couples say

In their words.

A huge thank you for helping make our very special day run so smoothly. Our intimate ceremony was everything we dreamed of. You made the entire process so stress free for both of us — getting through our lines and simply enjoying the moment as it happened. The day went off without a hitch. Thank you so much for sharing our special day with us.

We cannot recommend Felicity enough. She was with us every step of the way, making sure we were comfortable and relaxed from the moment we engaged her. She was available at any time for questions — neither of us had been married before, so there were plenty. Super organised, super approachable, and on the day that let the two of us just relax and fully enjoy the ceremony. When Felicity sent a draft of the ceremony we could really tell she had listened to what we had asked and put it on paper. We had a few jokes to put in and she had no problem adding them, even when there were Celtic words involved. The ceremony was perfect, very much thanks to Felicity.

About

Based in Murwillumbah. Registered to marry you anywhere in Australia.

A marriage celebrant is authorised under the Marriage Act 1961 to solemnise a marriage anywhere in the country, so the list of places on this site is how far it is reasonable to drive, not a boundary. What does change across the Tweed border is which registry records the marriage and what a certificate costs.

Questions

Questions people ask

How much does a wedding celebrant cost?
A wedding ceremony is $950 Monday to Thursday and $1,200 Friday to Sunday, no GST. Most celebrants across the Tweed, Byron and the Gold Coast sit between $990 and $1,350 for the same thing, so a weekday here is under that band and Friday to Sunday sits inside it.
Does the number of guests change the price of an elopement?
No. An elopement can be just the two of you and your witnesses, or a few of the people you love, and the price is the same either way. What you pay depends on the day of the week, never on the guest list, and I write the ceremony for whoever is standing there.
What is a legals-only wedding?
The shortest lawful ceremony there is. I say the legal statement, you each say one required line, everyone signs, and it is done inside ten to fifteen minutes. There is no processional, no readings and no custom script. Couples use it before a party, before travelling, or because the paperwork is the only part they wanted.
How much does a funeral celebrant cost?
A full funeral or celebration of life is $750. A graveside or ashes committal on its own is $450, and a living funeral is $750. There is no weekend loading and no additional charge for short notice.
Why do prices go up on the weekend?
Because a Saturday in season is the one thing I cannot make more of: about twenty-six of them a year, one ceremony each. Most of this market charges for it, usually $100 more Friday to Sunday and up to $350 at Byron. My gap on a full wedding is $250, and it is the weekday column that is the discount rather than the weekend column that is a loading. Short ceremonies carry one price whatever the day.
